The human mind tends to constantly jump from one thing to an other, reacting instinctively to stimulus- this careless existence is not our true nature. Through the practice of yoga we gradually restore to our mind the pleasure of stillness.

Vishva & Chétana are teaching an Introduction to Holistic Yoga workshop at PranaShanti on Saturday June 20th. For details and to register, check out the ‘workshops’ tab at PranaShanti!

Developed and taught to me by Yogi Vishvketu and Chétana Panwar, Akhanda (holistic) Yoga is a balance of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), relaxation, mantra,  yoga psychology and meditation. The underlying focus of the class is breath- it is through pranayama that students become aware of the tightness which the asana practice allows them to release. The asana practice aims to find a balance between strength and flexibility, and teaches students to listen to their body and allow it to guide them. Akhanda yoga is a practice which introduces students to the diverse aspects of the yoga tradition. It detoxifies the body and mind, gently guiding students to open themselves to their own natural state of balance.
